 For the third time in a row, the My Little Karaoke team has released a new batch of songs for aspiring horsefamous singers to destroy their vocal cords to. My Little Karaoke

 For those of you who are into karaoke and ponies, My Little Karaoke must be practically a godsend, and you'll be pleased to hear that they've released an additional content disc with a bunch of new songs for you to sing along to. It includes "the Equestria Girls soundtrack, silly things such as PFUDOR, and the first S4 song (Hearts Strong As Horses)", along with some performance improvements and general bugfixes. There may or may not be some other things, but I wouldn't know since I haven't really looked into it that much.

Will I play this myself? Probably not, since I'd rather keep my terrible singing to my goofy Skype calls, but if you enjoy being humiliated by a computer program criticizing your voice, this is for you. One can download it at http://www.mylittlekaraoke.com/index.php?pages/Game-download

Rainbow Dash Brawl Mod Trailer & Beta

So, I know you guys like Super Smash Bros. Brawl built around ponies - how about ponies inserted into Brawl? Spearheaded by turbobear, this project currently includes several skins for Rainbow Dash (including Scootaloo and WonderBolt) and a variety of moves. While it's far from finished, you can download the current build here.

The project is currently in growth mode: the team is looking for an animator, a modeler, and an additional code monkey to finish up Dash and begin work on the rest of the Mane 6. If you're interested, or just want to follow the project, the official thread can be found here. Have fun!

Story of the Blanks Level Editor

 While we wait around for that Story of the Blanks reimagining (which is apparently still under development, if we take their word for it), some anon on /mlp/ suggested that we post about the game's built-in level editor, which has been around since its release during the Creepypasta contest. To access it, the player has to open the game's SFW file, make the browser window much larger vertically than horizontally, click Play and then press Home+End. If you read the guide and figure out the editor, more power to you I guess. Still, it's not like this is really an appropriate tool for creating an entirely new game unless you're really crazy.

 Also, the comments for our Creepypasta contest reveal that apparently there were two entries, but Story of the Blanks was the only one that was posted. I wonder what happened to that other one...

So little to post these days...I'm only really putting this article up because there isn't much else, if anything at all. Also, upgrading to Windows 8.1 broke my dual-boot setup, so there's that as well.

I'm not really the singing type, but I know that there are plenty of Bronies that would like nothing more to sing along to songs from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic and get points for it. If you happen to be that type, then today is your lucky day! My Little Karaoke, a massive song pack for various karaoke games (such as UltraStar Deluxe, Performous, and Vocaluxe), has seen its first release and features various songs both from the show and from our glorious fandom. I haven't played it myself since it happened to share its release date with Black Mesa (which I spent all of last night downloading) but I hear that it's really great, so why don't you give it a shot, eh?

Daring Do vs. the Everfree Forest

If any of you remember remember Pitfall! or know what it is, you deserve a medal. The very first platformer ever created, Pitfall was a major hit back when it was released, selling over 4 million copies and was the second best-selling game on the Atari 2600. One thing that the game has always lacked, however, was ponies. Sure the game had an awesome little man, snappy crocodiles and horrible scorpions but not a single equine was included in any of the game's releases until the release of this mod. Daring Do vs. the Everfree Forest is a brand-new ponified mod of Pitfall that replaces Pitfall Harry with Daring Do and the various monsters with pony-related ones. Unlike some more recent projects this game stays true to the original system's technical limitations which is a huge plus for those of us that remember playing the original.

Pony Textures for Super Mario 64

Play Super Mario 64 on an emulator? Never fear, we've got ponies for that.

The Super Mario 64 Texture Pack is at it's best inside Peach's castle. The walls are painted with a bright Equestrian landscape, the floor bears Celestia's seal, and stained glass Nightmare Moon and Celestia replace the original circular window. In-level, apple trees are visible and the ground textures have changed somewhat, but the feel of the game has changed little. Still, it's entirely worth a try!

The thing that would really complete this mod is to sub out Mario for Twilight Sparkle (admittedly, a trickier task than textures.) Then, someone should get on making me a ponified Luigi's Mansion starring Fluttershy. Pretty please?

The description of the trailer above links to a video with full instructions for adding texture packs to Nintendo 64 ROMs. In case you wanted an abbreviated version, I've copied the gist of it below:

1. Make sure you have a working Super Mario 64 ROM running on the Project 64 emulator. If you've never used an emulator to play games before, make sure you have this working first.

2. Download and install Rice's Video Plugin. When it asks you to choose install location, make sure to give it the directory in which you've put Project64.exe. (Something like C:\foo\stuff\Project 64).

3. Open Project 64, go to Options>Settings>Plugins and select "Mudlord's Rice Video Build 6.1.4" as your Video plugin.

4. In Project 64, go to Options>Configure Graphics Plugins>Texture Enhancement and make sure "load hi-res textures if available" is checked.

5. Download the Texture pack and copy the folder "hires_texture" into "Project 64/Plugin."

Ahh, it's good to be back! A couple of days ago, we received this little treat for the nimble-fingered Super Hexagon fans among you. The Super Hexagon MLP Pack changes the game's music to songs from Balloon Party, its typeface to Celestia Medium, and its mechanical sound effects to tidbits from the show.

To install, just extract the downloaded files and copy them into Super Hexagon's data folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Super Hexagon\data is the Windows default.) Installing the pack will overwrite files, so back up the data folder beforehand for safety. Enjoy!

There's one thing on earth that has a near 100% success rate in improving any given webpage. Adding platformer ponies. That's right, platformer ponies. This handy piece of Javascript, which you put in your bookmarks bar and works on Firefox, Chrome, Safari, or Opera, will turn any webpage into a platformer, based off of Adventure Ponies, with any images, text, etc. forming the platforms.


Your goal is to rescue the CMC from the bottom of the page and bring them back up to the top, racking up points and vanquishing Diamond Dogs in the process. You can choose any of the mane six to play as, each with their own unique special abilities. We suggest playing an MLP fangame while running this to achieve a new level of gaming while gaming.

 It's been quite a while since we've posted anything related to My Little Karaoke, so you'll be pleased to hear that a new version of the game was released on Saturday. It features a whopping 150 songs from both the show and our fandom's talented musicians, support for up to 6 players on 2 screens, and high quality audio and video.

My Little Karaoke: Additional Content Disc #2

My Little Karaoke

Last week, the crew behind My Little Karaoke - a song pack and modification for UltraStar for singing along with various pony songs - released a new content disc. The expansion provides a total of over 90 new songs according to the developers, including foreign language versions of a few official songs for you to improvise nonsensical lyrics over, as well as a bunch of brony music of... varying quality. (I liked a couple of them, anyway.) The update also comes with a new visual identity for the project.

You can find the download here, although the individual ZIP downloads of songs are no longer available, leaving the only option to download the entire 2GB ISO (which they seem insistent on using, as opposed to other, more sane archive formats for digital downloads like this) and extract the songs you want. The prior downloads have to be installed for an automatic installation to work, although nothing's stopping you from pulling the songs themselves into a custom UltraStar installation.

Friendship is Fragging Video Update

Since apparently some of you have been constantly bugging Negation Squared about another video update for Friendship is Fragging, they gave in to your whining and were forced to release one for you. So go on, watch it! And don't blame me if it's really boring, because you were the ones who clamoured for it!

Just kidding, it's not that bad of an update, although it's pretty evident that the team has been focusing most of it's attention on MLP: Rise of Vicis and not so much on Friendship is Fragging.  I'm fine with the FiF being delayed as long as they're still working on RoV, which in my eyes is a far more interesting project.

...And now for a piece of somewhat related news. Negation Squared has announced that they plan on releasing a demo for MLP:RoV in June, which I am really looking forward to. Let's just hope it doesn't fall into development hell, eh?

 This has been sitting in our inbox for a few days undetected, but someone by the name of inderpxar modded VVVVVV to replace all of the characters with ponies. There are also a few dialog changes. There's not really much to say about a simple graphics mod, but it's an excuse to play through the game again, so I suppose it must be worth something. More information, and a download link with instructions for applying the mod, can be found in the Tumblr post.

Now we don't normally give mods a separate post here on Equestria Gaming, but this is somewhat of an exception. After all, who doesn't want to fling chubby little ponies at equally chubby changeling queens in their wee fortresses? This mod lets you do just that, and only a simple Google Chrome/Firefox plugin is needed to play (sorry users of other browsers!). It is still a work in progress, but I'm sure that you'll enjoy it anyways. So hit up the link above and take a look at the mod, then perhaps give it a try, ok?

Also, this isn't the first fandom that has made an Angry Birds-type game. The Portal fandom also did it with Aperture Birds, which you can find at http://www.moddb.com/games/aperture-birds and is far better in my personal opinion.

Well, quite a few bronies have been working on ponifying Team Fortress 2, and they've done a mighty fine job. Be it knifes, dispensers, or even BONK Energy Drinks, they've got pony mods for just about everything!

 Given the current popularity of both Earthbound and My Little Pony, it was inevitable that eventually someone would mod ponies into the former, and now the deed has finally been done. I'm not sure about the mod's quality, but at least it should give you folks something to play while you wait for Curse of the Lost Kingdom's first part to be released on April 30th.

Friendship is Fragging

The team behind MLP:Rise of Vicis (now calling themselves Negation Squared and with a Facebook page) are working on YET ANOTHER My Little Pony:Friendship is Magic fangame, and it seems to be a FPS. Now it's technically a mod since it's a Doom 2 WAD, but it will be able to be played without Doom 2, and as you can see it's still in a rather early state. They are planning on having deathmatch maps designed to look like areas in the show, new weapons and characters and a rather short single-player campaign with around 8-10 levels.

There is also no set release date (as usual), in case any of you were curious.

Ahh, Mondays. Good time for a first-person changeling smackdown? Yes. Actually, that holds for pretty much any day of the week.

Raridoom is actually a ponified mod of Chex Quest (read: Doom), with spells, hand-to-hand combat, and voice acting. Difficulty settings are a huge bonus: if it was too easy the first time around, crank the setting to Nightmare Mode and see if you can still knock corrupted Bon Bon for a loop. Posters with slogans like "The Queen is Watching You" scattered around the dungeon corridors add a touch of humor to the otherwise dreary setting. Also, make sure to select the menu option marked "Read This!" to get a hang of the controls.

The beta's still a little rough around the edges: the title screen could use a revamp, and starting certain levels on certain difficulties caused the game to spit errors. Still, if you're a Doom fan, this is a project you won't want to miss - bon appetit!
