My Little Pony - Friendship is Magic (Gameloft Game) Released!

Gameloft's anticipated take on MLP:FiM has been released! Unfortunately, it's only available in Australia and New Zealand at time of writing, but its download page (the iTunes NZ site is linked above) has plenty for you to slobber over even if you can't yet get it working on your iPhone or iPad. More after the break!

Update: The app is now available in the US. Find it here!
Update #2: The android version can be found here.
Update #3: Looking for a boatload of friends? Check out EQD's official name share post.

Currently, it appears the game contains elements of both single-player adventure and town-building. Development by Gameloft as well as the inclusion of dialogue from the show's VA's both bode well for its success. Have some copypasta:

"Saddle up for adventure with Twilight Sparkle & friends! After being locked away in the moon for centuries, Nightmare Moon is set free and spreading night across Ponyville! Only Twilight Sparkle and her friends can free Ponyville from her grasp and bring light and friendship back to the land. Help them rebuild the town and reach their dreams in exciting quests!

✰ Your favorite ponies are here: Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, Applejack and more!
✰ Make your Ponyville the most magical place in Equestria.
✰ Play fun mini-games with your ponies: Ball Bounce, Apple-Picking and Magic Wings!
✰ Interact with your friends and feel the Magic of Friendship!
✰ Enjoy official TV show voice talents featured in the game!"

Installation instructions for those outside the game's release area (courtesy of Lusht on Reddit):
1. Log out of your iTunes account.
2. Download the app.
3. When given the option, create a new ID. Don't set up payment, as you'll need to provide valid billing information from Australia or New Zealand.
4. Download the app (it's free).

Unfortunately, I'm without an iDevice, so I'm assigning this one to you guys. Play it and report back!

Gameloft's Welcome to Ponyville Gameplay Footage

Update: the title for the game has been revealed: Welcome to Ponyville. I get the impression that Filly Gamez won't be too happy about this...

Apparently Gameloft has been developing an official My Little Pony mobile game for a while now, and yesterday one of the developers released a video preview that showcased the game. I must admit that overall it does look rather pretty, but it seems that this game is yet another example of how ponies really don't look that great in 3D (PonyKart managed to get around this with some fancy shading, but it would probably drain cellphone batteries to have that). This game should make an interesting review to say the least, although that reviewer won't be me since I do not currently own any working mobile devices.

What do you think of this preview, eh?

Ponu News for iOS

Unfortunately our mobile site still sucks, which is bad news for those 4% of our readers who visit Equestria Gaming with their iOS devices. Android users already had a better way of viewing the site in the form of Ponu News, a little news app that has just recently found its way onto the iPhone (yes, it should also work on your iPads and iPod Touches). Eventually we would like to rewrite our site's interface to be more mobile-friendly, of course, but in the meantime Ponu News should serve all of you mobile users just fine.

In the meantime, Windows Phone users continue to be left out, but they're quite the minority here. As in, there are more people visiting from their PlayStation 3s and BSD machines than folks with Windows Phones.

Never Trust British Columbia

I figured that it was high time to buy an iPod so I could play the thousands of iOS pony games, but guess what? It doesn't work, of course, and it doesn't even have a friggen' Apple logo on the back of the case. The thing came from British Columbia, which kinda figures since I also once bought a Pink Floyd album from a BC Walmart that didn't come with a disc.

Well, that's several thousand dollars down the drain. What next?

Waiting is Magic Goes Mobile

Update 9/28/14: The game is no longer available on the App Store.

You read the title right, Waiting is Magic has arrived on the app store! After almost two months of extensive testing this highly addictive Flash game has been deemed ready, so if you happen to own an iPhone or iPod Touch I would highly recommend that you give it a spin. Shame that all those iPad and Android users won't be able to enjoy it yet...ah well, hopefully Penta Studios will consider giving them a chance to play the game as well in the nearby future. The Arcade version was also updated, although I have no idea as to what it contains...

Speaking of Flash games, it's been a while since we've added anything to that Arcade. I'm still in the process of porting it to Rails, which enables us to more easily add new features such as a rating system, improved organization and Cloudsdale integration (among other such things).

Waiting is Magic iOS Beta

Most of you probably remember Waiting is Magic quite well, and those of you with iPhones will be pleased to know that the game (no, not that game) is coming to the iOS platform. That's right: you'll be able to play WiM on the go! According to Penta Studios the port is almost complete, but before submitting it to the App Store they want some beta testers to make sure that there aren't any major bugs in the final version.

Interested in playing Waiting is Magic on your iPhone before everypony else? Then visit their post at http://pentastudios.net/index.php?page=news&id=52 and leave a comment with your UDID. Happy testing!

The Amazing Jumping Adventure

This simple game from NzureuzInternational is a game about hopping on clouds and Shadowbolt heads to ascend into the sky. It's basically a ponified clone of Doodle Jump. There's an in-game store with a few things to purchase with your accumulated score, but the options are either aesthetic (a couple of extra characters that are just reskins of Cloud Kicker) or only useful for score attacking ("start at 650 feet" and "add 500 feet to the end score", both of which cost exactly as much as you get out of them). Whether or not you enjoy this will depend on whether or not you enjoy the original game it's based off of. The game also has Android and iOS downloads for taking on the go, if that's your thing.
