Shattered Kingdom

 There are a lot of story-based games circling around the pony fandom, but not many have the strong player-influenced dynamic that Shattered Kingdom aims to provide. The project, being developed by a group known as Alicorn Games, is a turn-based strategy RPG centered around an Equestrian civil war between the Celestial Empire and the New Lunar Republic. The game will be heavily story-oriented and non-linear, with the player's actions influencing various story elements throughout the course of the game.

 The game is still early in development, and no public demo exists (at least that I can find), but a recent video of their panel at Bronycon 2014 showcases some of the team's current progress. More information can be found on the team's official blog.

Silent Ponyville: Echoed Sorrows

 Silent Ponyville: Echoed Sorrows is a game where you dive into Pinkie's mind to uncover the cause of her constant nightmares. (Or something like that. There isn't much to go off of from their site.) The team behind the game is currently looking for a few extra hands to assist with development. Though there isn't much information about the project at the present time, they already have a trailer up, and  a GitHub repository of unfinished code is available on one of the developers' profile for curious eyes to look over.

We need help!
In order to minimize time wasted on mostly useless paragraphs (like this one), we'll cut straight to the chase.

We need:

Background artists
    In order to make this game shine, we have to have slightly more than a black background (and no, green will not do the trick here either :P).

    Qualifications needed:

        Ability to create a background from scratch (by scratch, we mean, not a modification of another background)
        Ability to do a pixel art style (not absolutely needed, but it would be great if you could)

Cutscene artists and/or animators
    Qualifications needed:

        Ability to create a cutscene depicting a story, either from an amount of static images, or from an animation

Writers
    While the original "Silent Ponyville" fan fiction was amazing, it is not fit for a video game.

    Qualifications needed:

        Experience with writing
        Ability to improvise based off of pre-existing material

Voice actors
    At the moment, we are only interested in monster sounds (e.g. groans, wails, screams, etc...), and a few lines from pinkie pie.

    Once we have the story finished, we will revisit this.

 In other news, I'm going to attempt to keep team member requests such as this one listed in the Events section on the site's sidebar as long as they stay active, since that section gets fairly little love as it is. Announcements will still get their own posts, of course; this will simply be a way to keep an easy index to find open positions on projects, for those interested in contributing to something.

Horse Game and more at BronyCAN 2014

 The development team behind Horse Game, a 3D game about... something, will be hosting a panel at BronyCAN 2014 next weekend. The Horse Game panel begins at 3PM on Saturday, and will feature the developers as they (as described in the press release) showcase gameplay, detail the development process, and explain their goals for where this project will lead.

 Pre-registration for the event closes tonight at midnight, for those interested in attending. Other games present include Twilight Sparkle's Secret Shipfic Folder, which will be on sale in the dealers' hall, and Legends of Equestria.

Crystal Gaming, a Fandom-wide Team Fortress 2 Tournament

The folks running the Finnish Crystal Fair 2014 brony convention are organizing a Team Fortress 2 tournament named Crystal Gaming (unrelated to the Crystal Games Challenge we covered a few days ago), aimed at players of all skill levels. The tournament, designed as a promotion for the convention, is taking signups through the end of the month. They've got some TF2-related prizes for the top teams, and are also accepting item donations to add to the prize pool, if you've grown bored of hat collect-a-thons and want to offload your inventory or something like that. Announcing Crystal Gaming, a Fandom-wide Team Fortress 2 Tournament

Most of you have probably heard about Team Fortress 2, the free FPS-game originally launched in 2007, which is still one of the most popular multiplayer games out there. There have been a large number of TF2 tournaments, so we thought: why not make one aimed for the whole brony fandom? That’s how Crystal Gaming was born.

Crystal Gaming isn’t aimed for professional TF2 players and teams, but for everyone out there who enjoy playing the game. Taking part in the event doesn’t even require you to have an already-established team, as long as you manage to get a team together before signing up ends.

Signing up for the tournament is simple: all you need is 6 people (+ optional spare players, just in case), and a small amount of time to take on your opponents. All the games will take place during the weekends of March and April, and your team will be able to choose the best available times to play against your opponents.

If you happen to be missing a couple of players from your team, or if you’re looking to create a team from scratch, we have a couple of places for all of you to find the perfect teammates. More information concerning finding teammates below!

Signing up for the tournament has begun today, on the 5th of February, and will end on the 2nd of March, at 24:00 GMT. Thus you still have loads of time to find yourself some teammates to play with!

The Finale will be played during April or May, and will be live-commentated by some of the most known bronies out there. Stay tuned for more info about who those people will be!

Now you might be asking, are there any prizes? The answer to that: yes. The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd placed teams will receive a bundle of TF2-related items. The value of these bundles will range from 5-30€. Also, to make things even more interesting, we’ve set up a Steam Donation Bot, which will accept all donated Team Fortress 2 items, which will be added to the bundle for the 1st place winner! So if you have useless stuff clumping up your inventory, now there’s a place where you can give that stuff away!

We’ve also opened a public community server for you to play on before the actual tournament starts! You can find it on our website as well!
