My Little Game Dev Marathon Pt. 2

Some of you may remember the My Little Game Dev Marathon which was held earlier this year, and I'm (would say "we're", but the others aren't here so...) happy to announce that they've recently launched another one. The requirements for entries are fairly simple: at least 1 level playable level, bare essentials, decent graphics, no R34 content, and finally the marathon logo should be present somewhere within the game. The deadline is December 30th: so if you're interested in participating then you should probably get started soon and have your project ready before then, where they'll pack all the games together and send them to various prominent fansites for reviewing.

More detailed information can be found on the thread at http://mylittlegamedev.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=1105&pid=5933

Being the only active poster on this site makes me feel rather lonely sometimes. Wonder when Enigma Sage and Arctic Lux will come back...

My Little Game Jam has begun!

Why are you reading this? You're already behind! Yes, the first round of My Little Game Jam started four hours ago! You've only got until this weekend ends (midnight Sunday to Monday UTC, or 4:00 PM Pacific Time on the 7th, for all my Seattle bronies) to complete your game. It's certainly not too late to start - but you must have your chaos-themed My Little Pony fangame completed and submitted by the deadline. Here are the rules, shamelessly copied from their front page:
  • All assets and game logic must be created during the weekend of competition.
  • The contest is individuals only. You have to work alone.
  • The game must follow the theme announced at the beginning of the competition (chaos).
  • Code and assets must be open-sourced and added to the submission.
Caught flat-footed? Never fear: you may miss the contest, but any 48 hours is a perfectly good time to make a pony fangame in my book. I'm thoroughly jazzed to see what you guys come up with, and I'm certainly looking forward to raving about the winners come next week!

My Little Game Dev Marathon

My Little Game Dev Marathon logo

The friendly folks over at the My Little Game Dev forums figured that they should hold their own game development marathon, and unlike the more well-known My Little Game Jam this event lasts for two whole weeks starting today, giving you plenty of time to work on your dream fangame. There isn't a required theme in this event: you just need to show up with a completed game by the end of the event that does not feature R34 (although creepypasta is allowed, thankfully). Shame I probably won't have my pet project fangame finished in time...ah well, at least it should be out sometime this year.

Want more details on the contest? You can find them here, and once you've created a game you can submit it to this thread: http://www.mylittlegamedev.com/thread-768.html. Have fun!

LIVE:Legends of Equestria 24 Hour Livestream Challenge

Update: the event is now over, and it seems that they got most of their work done. Thanks for watching everypony!

The Legends of Equestria 24 Hour Livestream Challenge is now LIVE! In this amazing event you will get to see the creators strive to recreate the entire Everfree Forest in 24 hours. Do you think they will succeed? Personally, I think they shall fail, but if you want to be optimistic you can go and cheer them on.

Hope you enjoy the stream!

Legends of Equestria 24 Hour Livestream Challenge!

The Legends of Equestria logo

The team behind Legends of Equestria (and the original Equestria Online before the team split) recently sent out an announcement for their "24 Hour Livestream Challenge". They intend on creating the entire Everfree Forest area for the game during that event, which includes "buildings, plants, NPCs, creatures, and the map layout." This must-see event will start at 2PM EST on April 14, and will end at the same time on the 15th, all which will be shown live at http://www.livestream.com/legendsofequestria.

For more information about Legends of Equestria please see their website at http://www.legendsofequestria.com/ or their Facebook page at www.facebook.com/legendsofequestria. Hope to see you there!

24 Hour Spring Break Marathon is LIVE!

The 24 hour spring break marathon is live now, and will be until 12 pm EST tomorrow. Since they're apparently showing an unreleased trailer for MLP:Rise of Vicis at some point during the livestream I would advise watching at some point if you're interested in their project. So get on down there and watch at http://www.livestream.com/gypzsepiclivestream, or just use the embedded player on our website!

24 Hour Spring Break Marathon

From sometime in the afternoon April 6th at 12 pm EST to April 7th at somewhere else in the afternoon 12 pm EST a couple of fellas are holding a 24-ish hour gaming marathon. Now, these happen all the time and without getting posted, so why are you putting this up, you might ask. Well, the thing is at some unspecified point during the livestream they will air an unreleased trailer for MLP: Rise of Vicis. So even if just for the sake of watching that new trailer I encourage you to visit their livestream around noon on April 6th, and watch until your eyeballs fall out of your head from staring at your screen for so long (unless you've got matchstick eyes, or have a bladder of steel).

Xtux, out!

My Little Game Jam: Mini Game Jam

My Little Game Jam

The folks over at My Little Game Jam have decided to hold monthly contests called "Mini Game Jams", and unlike the main events there is no requirement for the entries to include their source code (although the game must still be made from scratch). Apparently one started earlier today, and it lasts for 48 hours. If you have an awesome idea for a fangame, now is the perfect time to create it (unless you want to wait for the next full-sized game jam that will  start later on this year). Shame I wasn't already busy with my own fangame, or I would participate in the event myself.

Oh yeah, and on a somewhat unrelated note it seems that the My Little Game Dev forums are going to stay down for a couple days while its creator sets something up (think it was a new domain name or something).

MLGD Marathon Compiliation (Or Not)

A modified version of the My Little Game Dev Marathon logo

When Wishdream announced Part 2 of the My Little Game Dev Marathon, he said that sites would have to wait a couple days after the event's end to post things while he whipped up a compilation video. Thing is, "a couple days" turned into two bloody weeks, and the video purposefully leaves out several key games to make room for ones that were either a part of the previous marathon or not even entries at all, but separate games that he just decided to throw in there. I'd say that's more than a tad dishonest: kind of makes me wish that I'd never agreed to wait for this in the first place (especially since it comes out on Sunday, which of all days is supposed to be my day off).

Given how poorly things were handled I'm not even going to bother posting the video, so I'll just post the games separately and give them the attention they deserve instead of shoving them all into one big compilation post.

Edit: slight change of heart, I'll put the video down here anyways.
