Fiends from Dream Valley Tech Demo

Twilight Sparkle and Spike at the entrance to...something.
The Fiends from Dream Valley

After a couple months of waiting the Fiends from Dream Valley team have finally released a tech demo for their flash game. It mainly showcases the engine and doesn't have much gameplay other then jumping around, moving physics-based objects and talking to the occasional pony, but it certainly looks promising.    The demo also seems to be in a rather unstable state, with plenty of bugs and terrible performance slowdowns plaguing the game, especially when running in fullscreen mode via the downloadable .swf file. So if you want to try out the demo, go ahead. I'm not gonna stop you, but at the moment there's not really much to see, unfortunately.

Also, the screenshot above was taken from DerpyHooves News, as it is impossible to take screenshots in-game with my Mac without bringing up the character selection UI. Sorry!

Boards & Bits @ Brimstone - May 10th

The Windsor Gaming resource returns to Brimstone Games on Saturday May 10th from 5pm until 10pm.

Brimstone has a huge gaming area with tons of tables, chairs and great lighting. I'm told by the owner, Sean, that we could fit 60 of us in there.

This is an open, all ages, theme-less gaming event. Just a bunch of us getting together to play some games at a great venue. Along with having games for sale Brimstone also has a good selection of drinks and snack food. They are also really cool about people bringing food in and personally I'm a big fan of ordering Pizza from Armando's just down the street.

You can find Brimstone at 3298 Walker Rd. Parking is available on the south side of the building and on the street around back. Note Brimstone used to be located in McGreggor. This is no longer the case, they moved into Windsor last year. Some internet mapping sites seem to have not gotten this figured out yet.

At these events you can usually find people playing Magic The Gathering and since Brimstone is a Games Workshop specialty store so we've often seen a table or two of Warhammer going down. Add to this our usual mix of card board and dice games for one of the most varied events in the city. Bring your own favourite game or play one of ours.

Ponu News

A screenshot of the Ponu News application.

No, we don't have an Android app yet, but some guy named Tom Jin has made an app titled Ponu News that compiles news and fanworks from around the ponynet and packages it all inside their convenient app. In a recent update they added Equestria Gaming to their Entertainment category, so if you want to read our stuff on the go you can do by picking up their app over at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hummingtap.ponu. They also have support for other fansites like DerpyHooves News and Fimfiction, in case you're interested.

As for you iOS and Windows Phone users...you'll still be stuck with the lousy mobile version of our site. Sorry!

Fallout Equestria: the Unblinking

Now that The Overmare Studios has released this new Fallout: Equestria preview, I can kind of understand why their previous videos used a first-person perspective: their current pony model looks surprisingly creepy when animated, especially with those large, unblinking eyes. Come to think of it, it feels like there's something a bit off with almost all of the animations, although I can't quite lay my finger on it. Perhaps it's just because the animations are incomplete, or maybe this is actually a surreal horror game and Littlepip is an android who happens to fall into the uncanny valley. It's already scarier than Dead Space, so why stop there when you can go all the way down?

They're also recruiting, and since I don't feel like pasting their ad below the break this time you can read about their requirements at http://theovermare.com/blog/2014/04/flow-of-animations.

I really need to install a feed reader on Windows so I don't fall behind when it comes to picking up news.

XTUX Attending the Calgary Expo

UPDATE: Xtux was turned away from the convention because the building was too full. Sorry everypony!

Equestria Gaming's very own XTUX345 (in other words, me) will be attending the Calgary Comic Con on Saturday. So if you're attending the convention, see you there!

Also, brief post is brief.

Review:Derpy Hooves Sweet Dream

The title screen for Derpy Hooves Sweet Dream
Despite the impression you may have gotten from my previous review I do believe in the concept of "beauty in simplicity". However, some simple things are, to put it mildly, not beautiful at all. Quality, not simplicity, is paramount to a beautiful game, but what about when a game combines the two of them? Well then you get something extraordinary, although not many simple games make it that far.
But what about Derpy Hooves Sweet Dream? Does it manage to be beautiful in its simplicity, or will it turn out to be yet another boring "catch the falling objects" game? Find out after the break.

Since Derpy is one hungry pegasus she is no doubt thrilled when she discovers that food is inexplicably falling from the sky, and decides to eat it all. Judging from the title screen and the game's title this appears to be another of Derpy's dreams, which actually gives the gameplay a fairly logical explanation (quite rare for this sort of game). The player controls Derpy via the mouse, and must move quickly to eat as many goodies as possible before the timer runs out. If however enough points are gained in under sixty seconds the timer resets and the player moves on to the next level. As the player progresses further through the game food falls faster and becomes scarcer, requiring the player to have almost superhuman reflexes and awareness in order to survive. Also, certain foods give more points than others, and buckets of frogs are occasionally dropped that reduce points and must be avoided at all costs.

Sounds simple, right? That is correct, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. You see, unlike some other simple games I have reviewed, this game is fun, and that is ultimately the most important part of a game. If I walk away from a game and I didn't have fun I would consider that game a failure, even if it had the most amazing graphics and music one could ask for. Thankfully, this game also has both, although I have seen better.

You see, Derpy Hooves Sweet Dream has very smooth animation, and contains some of the best animation I have ever seen in a fangame. Derpy's wings flap smoothly, the food looks like it came straight from the show, and the background is a visually appealing image of Cloudsdale, although sadly it suffers from some ugly compression and could use some parallax scrolling (as most other games in this fandom, according to my opinion). But really, there is one thing that really makes this game great. Although fun, it's not the gameplay, nor is it the graphics. It's the music. The soundtrack's single is so wonderful, so relaxing, it actually adds a huge amount of polish to the game. Playing the game with the soundtrack off is a completely different experience. It suddenly becomes just another falling food game, and one with rather floaty controls at that (although with the music on, those same controls somehow feel dreamlike).

Derpy Hooves Sweet Dream is an interesting game, and it owes a lot of it's sheer goodness to the amazing music. With the music on, it's a wonderful, dreamlike experience that could suck up hours of your time, while with the music off you'll quickly grow tired of Derpy Hooves Sweet Dream and go find something else to play. So both for the game's successes and shortcomings I rate this game:

A seven out of ten!

I would have given this game a higher score, but despite it's beauty Derpy Hooves Sweet Dream cannot warrant anything higher then this. Also, sorry for how long I took to get around to writing this review. Hope you found it an interesting read!

Bronies Fighting Ponies: The Magic of Friendship

Happy Saturday, all!

In case any of you are still hazy on the details of Mane6's cease and desist from a while back, Polygon has released an in-depth special feature chronicling the story of the project and the takedown. The piece also goes into the reasons behind Hasbro C&Ds, covers Lauren Faust's involvement in mane6's new project, and puts a really positive spin on the Brony community in general.

Check it out here!

Team Fortress 2 Pony Mods - Spray Update

Well, quite a few bronies have been working on ponifying Team Fortress 2, and they've done a mighty fine job. Be it knifes, dispensers, or even BONK Energy Drinks, they've got pony mods for just about everything!

This is also home to the famous Applejack Engineer mod, which you can see in the video below.
That's not creepy one bit, Nope.avi

A brony by the name of Enlino sent Sethisto over at EqD a large pack of TF2 Sprays, there are a few animated and all of them have transparent backgrounds.

It also comes with a handy Read me for anypony who doesn't know how to use these sprays.
You can download them HERE.

Just Chillin.

Rise of the Clockwork Stallions: Rarity VA Wanted

Rise of the Clockwork Stallions

So far Darkera Studios has been making excellent progress in their Rise of the Clockwork Stallions game (as can be seen if you've played their most recent demo), but they've hit a bit of a snag. You see, they need a voice actress for the fair lady Rarity, and they want one as soon as possible. If you think you can sound like Rarity and have a decent microphone, you can apply for the job by messaging ChurchCrusade on Skype.

Also, it looks like Snowdrop is going to be a playable character. It somehow doesn't seem very in-character for her to be fighting robots and whatnot, but then again the same could be said about Fluttershy, eh?

Waiting is Magic iOS Beta

Most of you probably remember Waiting is Magic quite well, and those of you with iPhones will be pleased to know that the game (no, not that game) is coming to the iOS platform. That's right: you'll be able to play WiM on the go! According to Penta Studios the port is almost complete, but before submitting it to the App Store they want some beta testers to make sure that there aren't any major bugs in the final version.

Interested in playing Waiting is Magic on your iPhone before everypony else? Then visit their post at http://pentastudios.net/index.php?page=news&id=52 and leave a comment with your UDID. Happy testing!

Welcome to Ponyville Trailer and Casting Call

Welcome to Ponyville

Allright, so here we have another video demonstration of Welcome to Ponyville, this one mainly centring around romance, since apparently that is what you guys were most interested in (really now?). While that doesn't interest me in the slightest, the update also showcases some of the team's vocal talent for the game,  which I did not care for that much. Hopefully there will be some option to turn it off in the final game, although even if there isn't I'll still tolerate it. Still, this is shaping up to be a most interesting game, and the idea of the game's artwork being supplied by the community is one that I find quite appealing.

Also, the team is looking for even more members: most of the needed positions are for voice actors, although they are also wanting a couple more programmers. In case you are interested in helping you can read their casting call at https://docs.google.com/document/d/17_HCpb4UYaoRjzgrRB0GSUerI67p3AaWFlzD4GPWaZo/edit?pli=1

Equestria Racing

Here we have Equestria Racing, which appears to be some sort of ponified Superman 64 clone minus the beat 'em up sections and kryptonite fog. I do have some rather mixed-feelings about it so far, but hopefully the final product will manage to make for it by throwing in some interesting locations to fly around in and whatnot.

I've embedded some of the previous development updates below the break as well, in case you're interested in seeing those.

My Little Investigations Trailer + Demo Release Date!

My Little Investigations

Well, it looks like the Equestrian Dreamers team has released another My Little Investigations gameplay trailer, along with the information that the demo of their game is coming out on May 5th. Mark down your calendars folks, you'll definitely want to try this out!

Legends of Equestria Releases Post-Babscon Trailer

For various reasons, the Legends of Equestria development team decided to release a Babscon trailer showcasing the game minus the apparently quite awesome dragon invasion they held near the open server weekend's end, which I find somewhat disappointing. Ah well, at least it's a nice preview for those of you who want a sample of the LoE experience without waiting for another open server weekend or the lines of people sitting on that one rooftop and general goofiness typically found in private servers, the latter of which I wouldn't consider a downside to visiting a private server at all.

And on another note, tux3 released his LoE private server build on GitHub a couple days ago, which you can grab at https://github.com/tux3/LoE-PrivateServer/releases for whenever those go live.

This is where the screencaps of the dragon invasion would be if I still remembered where they were.

Ponykart Looking for 3D Modelers

Rainbow Dash's kart design.
Ponykart

Work on the Ponykart C++ port seems to be progressing smoothly, if at a rather slow pace, but it seems that they still have a shortage of 3D modelers (a problem seemingly shared by many FOSS games). The fandom does seem to have a distinct lack of those as well, sadly, but if you happen to have some experience with 3DS Max and/or Blender and would like to contribute to the community in some way or another, this is probably an almost perfect opportunity for you to get some practice and should look pretty good on your résumé.

I wasn't told exactly where interested applicants were supposed to apply for the position, so you might as well just do so at the recruitment thread if you feel like it, which can be found at http://ponykart.org/index.php?PHPSESSID=dqbg1ss4oeajnblv8k3b5g44f0&topic=52.

Equestria Gaming has a domain!

Well, you may have noticed, but Equestria Gaming now has it's own domain!
www.equestriagaming.com will now be the link to this blog, and I owe it all to Derpyhooves.com!

The wonderfully awesome Derpy Squad over at Derpyhooves.com went ahead and got me a domain, I've known him for a while now, and I LOVE HIM SO MUCH.

So if you haven't already, go and check out his site, derpyhooves.com, he does all sorts of neat news updates, along with a few games over there. It's a really helpful place!

Changes to our Theme

Lately we have been making many changes to Equestria Gaming. Most of them were behind the scenes such as performance optimizations and while those were quite useful we always had it in the back of our minds to make visible improvements to our site. So as you've probably noticed, we've currently themed our site around Queen Chrysalis to celebrate the season finale and the reveal of a new villain, along with an entire race of emotion-eating monsters. This theme will probably not be permanent and is not yet complete, we would appreciate it if you leave some feedback in the comments.

Wakfu Pony Guild

This post has multiple points. For one, a Wakfu pony guild has started up in Closed Beta for those of you who are interested in the show (And since a good amount of us are from /co/, this is probably the case).

If you would like to join the guild, message Rainbow Dash in game or visit THIS POST and request an invite.

Now on to point 2!

A Limited number of beta keys are available on Zam right now!  You can find that below!

Wakfu Beta Keys

It does require a Zam account (which is free and takes literally 2 seconds to sign up for)

Now... I realize this post is two days late AND stolen from Equestria Daily....
But... I've been playing Wakfu non stop for the last two days... Sorry D:

My Little Game Dev Marathon

My Little Game Dev Marathon logo

The friendly folks over at the My Little Game Dev forums figured that they should hold their own game development marathon, and unlike the more well-known My Little Game Jam this event lasts for two whole weeks starting today, giving you plenty of time to work on your dream fangame. There isn't a required theme in this event: you just need to show up with a completed game by the end of the event that does not feature R34 (although creepypasta is allowed, thankfully). Shame I probably won't have my pet project fangame finished in time...ah well, at least it should be out sometime this year.

Want more details on the contest? You can find them here, and once you've created a game you can submit it to this thread: http://www.mylittlegamedev.com/thread-768.html. Have fun!

Minuette vs Tardiness Gets a Level Editor

Poor Minuette. As if her traumatic experience in Minuette vs Tardiness wasn't long enough, people wanted a level editor to extend her nightmare for their own personal enjoyment. Can't you guys give the poor gal a break? If you keep this up, she's never going to wake up in time for work.

The above image is from a poster Mark posted on his deviantART. If you want to see the whole thing, it can be found via this link: http://marcusmaximus.deviantart.com/art/Minuette-vs-Tardiness-367190929

MLP:FiM Flash Game Story Contest

CONTEST IS OVER

Fillies and Gentleponies,

The development team of MLP:FiM The Flash Game is holding a story contest for their game.  The main goal is for some pony to create an interesting storyline that will fuel the actual game, it needs to be detailed and long enough so the game can be built upon it.

[ The Game ]

MLP:FiM The Flash Game is a platformer style game.  It will have large multiple levels with mini bosses and of course at the end, the final boss.  Think Megaman or Sonic the Hedgehog style games.  The game will feature unlockable characters which will be used to access areas in levels that you could not access before to advance in levels.  Each character will be unlocked after defeating one of the mini bosses.  So its a cross between adventure and puzzle solving.

[ Rules ]

1.  No Grimdark.
2.  No Shipping.
3.  Primary gameplay must focus around the main ponies, not including Trixie, BonBon, Lyra, Spike, etc.
4.  It must remain completely in line with what you could imagine actually happening in the show.
5.  Stories are not to be posted anywhere.

The reason we do not want the stories to be posted anywhere is so the mystery of the game is kept a secret to the general public.  Otherwise if you know the story beforehand, its not as fun.  Stories will be judged by the development team and the author will be kept unknown to them until a winner is elected.

All Submissions are due May 15st, @ 11:59pm EST.

E-Mail your story to PostMaster@DerpyHooves.com
Subject:  MLPFiM Flash Game Story Contest
Development Site: http://www.derpyhooves.com/mlpflash/

We are also trying to spread the word far and wide, so tell your friends!

Cards & Coffee - May 25th @ Hugin & Munin

Hugin & Munin has recently added a coffee drink and snack center to the store. To celebrate Ian suggested a Cards and Coffee gaming event. I never say no to a gaming event.

The event will be hosted at the store on Saturday May 25th from 5pm until 11pm. Throughout the event Bosch Tassimo Coffee will be half price!

Tap some Mana, assemble a Legendary team of heroes, expand your Dominion, work on an Eminent Domain, duel with Wizard, have an Epic Spell War, backstab a Munchkin all while being as caffeinated as possible.

Sure the theme is Cards & Coffee but if you want to show up and play some board games or a miniature game and drink some coke or Mt. Dew instead, we aren't going to stop you. It's more of an excuse to get people together gaming than anything else.

Hugin & Munin is located at 1664 Tecumseh RD. E. in Windsor Ontario

Servant of Discord Update/Screenshots/Recruitment Call

Remember Servant of Discord, the Zelda-like dungeon crawler that released a beta version a few months back? Development is ongoing, but they've released a raft of screenshots and put out a call for a new programmer. Check out the screenshots below the break, and, if you're interested, contact the team lead (roboiguana@gmail.com) and see how you can help with the project!

Pony Emblem Survey

The Pony Emblem logo

A short while ago the Pony Emblem team decided to make a survey on the fandom's opinion on a few aspects of their game. Partaking in this short survey will help them decide how to develop some very important features of the game, and would be a huge help to them.

So if you're interested in taking their survey, you can find it at http://ponyemblem.com/survey/index.php/survey/index/sid/978353/lang/en

Review: Pony Platforming Project 3 1/2

The title screen for MFA 1 1/2
Pony Platforming Project 3 1/2

If you remember when Minty Fresh Adventure was released back in April over two years ago (has it really been that long?), Mark Sprague mentioned that he was planning on releasing an expansion of sorts to the game, but it kind of got pushed out of the way in order to focus on finishing the much more ambitious Minty Fresh Adventure II by the end of the year. Of course, we all know how that went, and in order to keep us distracted from asking where his game went Mark has gone and finally tossed PPP 3 1/2 to the masses...two years late.

Ah well, at least it's something. In case you're wondering how the expansion turned out, I've written a review of sorts below the break.

In the original Minty Fresh Adventure, it was possible for Colgate to stumble across a sock lying on the ground in the Cave of Wisdom and drop down a pit for a miniboss encounter, after which she would rescue a sock-obsessed pony named Minty. This expansion reveals that she was apparently trapped in said cave for several years while searching for missing socks, and after all that she's apparently still foolhardy enough to go back in there to see if she can find the rest of them. One wonders why she doesn't just go buy some more, but that would make for a completely different kind of game that may or may not be appropriate to post here.

Since this is basically a standalone expansion pack, it's pretty much a given that the gameplay will be very similar to that of Minty Fresh Adventure's, and it's pretty much just that without the time-stopping mechanics and the giant weaponized toothbrush. In its place Minty has the ability to...throw candy at things. It doesn't sound like much, but she can use to heal herself if thrown straight upwards and tame various creatures à la Little Nemo: The Dream Master (with the exception of skeletons and spiders, who are damaged by them as if they were normal projectiles, and the unmountable bugbears). Mounting them can provide Minty with several advantages such as faster movement speed, double-jumping and better damage absorption. While not strictly necessary for a simple run of the game, they are incredibly useful for the most part and are vital for completing certain sidequests.

Not quite as hilariously awesome as beating the game as a toothpaste tube, but still pretty neat.
Those who expected something completely different will be somewhat disappointed, however. It's pretty much MFA with some different gameplay elements, a completely re-arranged Cave of Wisdom and some fairly decent bossfights. The expansion is fairly short as well if one just attempts to head straight to the end without interacting with any of the other characters or bothering to pick up any of Minty's socks, but then one would be missing out on the humourous dialogue and the possibility of earning a better ending. At least the replay value is fairly high for a game of this length, thanks to the aforementioned sidequests and multiple endings. The cutie mark achievement system also makes a return from some of the previous games, thankfully enough, and I hear there's actually a reward for getting them all...

I'd put a rating on this along with some more in-depth criticism if I had the time and this were a full game, so I guess this will have to do for now. Perhaps I'll expand upon this once I've returned, but in the meantime enjoy the game/expansion thingy!

Equestria Chronicles: Online - Contest Update

Equestria Chronicles: Online is a 3D fan made My Little Pony Friendship is Magic MMO, currently being developed by Rainbow Bloom and their team in the Unreal Development Kit (UDK).

This MMO does not currently have much released information, but we can expect videos and screenshots in the near future, according to Rainbow Bloom. As of now, the game has been confirmed for being based around social interactions, cooperative minigames and special events during the early stages. The idea of TF2 Type servers was brought up, but dismissed shortly after, the actual way servers will be set up remains unknown as of now.

The only current screenshot

The team is currently working on a persistent server environment, allowing them to add to the base game mechanic and other features, such as quests, character stats (if desired) and other locations in game. The game itself will be completely 3D, and the team is hoping to get a Beta up as soon as possible for testing.

If you are interested in joining the team, check out this there HERE, post a new topic with what you think you can offer to the team and the game.

The Ponychan thread can be found HERE.

Contest Update - Equestria Chronicles: Online has recently started a contest for remaking the “Powered by unreal technology" video into for the game. The winner will be able to play as one of the mane cast (Not including Celestia and Luna) For three months in game.
You can find the Ponychan thread with the rules HERE

My Little Pony - Friendly Magic Duel

Multiplayer, online, turn-based combat simulator? Passable. Same thing, but with ponies? Now you've got a game.

MDV Games' recent release My Little Pony: Friendly Magic Duel boils down to a battle of wits. Timing plays a role (if you can't come to a decision within your thirty-second turn, you've wasted an action) but the majority of in-game strategy revolves around buying various buffs over time to strengthen your team of ponies. Both players assemble a team of three of the mane six (unfortunately, there is only one Fluttershy) before duking it out.

As is the case in many tests of cunning and skill, I handily defeated your friendly neighborhood admin Enigma Sage (regardless of what he says.) The game lobby's empty at the moment, but I'm sure we can remedy that!

New Youtube Channel!

Attention readers!

Due to circumstances beyond our control we have been forced to create a new Youtube channel. Our old one was only accessible to Strawberry Spice (who is now inactive), but the new channel is accessible to the entire team, which means that you should be seeing more videos from us such as playthroughs, trailers, and maybe even a video review or two!

So in case you were wondering, here is the link to our new channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/EquestriaGamingVideo.

Enjoy!

Ponycraft

Ponycraft, a Minecraft server dedicated to recreating Equestria, has been booming in progress. The server, created a mere month ago, already has many of Equestria's mane towns and areas almost completed. If you've got Minecraft, I definitely suggest stopping by on this server at some point, it's pretty amazing.

Cloudsdale, my favorite place so far

Fluttershy, the creator of Ponycraft, has recently released a seven minute long video showing what the server currently has done, it's actually pretty amazing. Keep in mind that most of this is actually incomplete, and quite a few places are still in the early planning stages, like Canterlot.

Amazing, isn't it?

Today: the Beginning of Yet Another LoE Server Weekend Thing

Back in March we posted about an upcoming Legends of Equestria open server weekend from April 18 to 20, and now that the 18th has finally been reached we are pleased to announce that the event has begun on time. You can download a copy of the game here, and don't worry about login issues; apparently the team has resolved those so we probably won't have more horror stories of people literally waiting for several hours to get in.

If you aren't able to play this weekend for whatever reason, I'd suggest downloading the client anyways since Tux3 will probably release another private server for it after the event is done. We've also copypasted a guide to the game below, which you can also find at http://forum.legendsofequestria.com/index.php?topic=10677.

Earth Ponies have Seismic Buck and Rough Terrain, Unicorns have Rainbow Fields and Magical Arrow, and Pegasi have Dual Cyclone and Gale! All three races have Ground Pound.

When ready, select a creature, a target reticule should appear. Attack the mob by getting in their range and selecting your skill.

When the enemy's health gets to zero, they'll faint! Don't worry though, I'm sure they can just walk it off.

Parties

If you want to form a party with other players, you can right-click them and add them to your party!

Parties are useful for going out and exploring. You never know when you might run into monsters, and there is always safety in numbers!

Trading

Do you have an interesting item that you'd like to give to a friend? Well, you can trade them!

Simply right click on your friend and hit "Trade." The other pony needs to accept your trade for it to continue.

Once accepted, you'll see a screen. Left click and add the item to the trading menu.

When both players are satisfied with the trade, they both must hit "Ready." When both players hit "Ready," a "Done" button will appear. Once both players hit the "Done" button, the trade will be completed.

Stuck Somewhere?

Have no fear! No need to call the moderators! Simply type /stuck or unstuck me and you will be moved to the starting point of the map. (This will not work if you are in combat.)

Not long left, everyone!

Boardgames Are Really Fun - Free for all! - April 25th

B.A.R.F. - Boardgames Are Really Fun
Theme: Free for all!

The Windsor Gaming Resource and Villains Beastro are proud to announce another awesome free gaming event scheduled for Thursday April 25th from 6pm until Midnight. This will be our first Thursday night event. Remember there's a BARF event the 4th Thursday of every month.

The Villains Beastro is a unique, funky, weird, mystical, fun, serious, laid back, Viking-feeling, pub-looking rock n’ roll type place that has offered to open their doors for us. It’s the perfect spot for a group of gamers to hang out and play some games. There are plenty of tables of all sizes, a well lit stage area, some great beers on draft, a selection of harder beverages and a some great tasting sandwiches. Villains has agreed to give us the space for free and I encourage everyone to support the venue by buying some food and enjoyed a drink (responsibly of course). One bonus of moving these events to Thursday is that it's also SWAMP night - so enjoy a Steam Whistle and Mouthwatering Panini at a discounted price.

The theme for this event is: Free for all! I'll admit it, I've been uber busy and haven't given this event the attention it deserves. Part of that is not coming up with a proper theme. Actually based on the last few events and how many games people bring that aren't in theme, maybe I will ditch the whole theme thing entirely? What do you think about this, let me  know by posting below.

This is an open non-competitive gaming event that anyone is welcome to attend. Any form of game is welcome: board, card, rpg, miniatures, whatever you want to bring we are willing to have you. We aren't rule lawyers. You are welcome to bring your own games or share in some of ours. Everything we bring we are willing to teach and no experience is necessary. The goal is to get as many local gamers out as possible to enjoy some good food, some good company and some good games! We are not a private club. Anyone and everyone is welcome to come out and join in the games. If you see someone playing a game and it looks interesting, ask about it. If you see a game on a table and you want to try it out, ask around and see if someone will teach it.

Villains is located Downtown at:

Boards & Bits @ Brimstone - April 20th

The Windsor Gaming Resource and Brimstone Games are proud to announce another our first gaming event at Brimstone's new location being held on April 20th from 6pm until Midnight.

Brimstone games is the newest FLGS (Friendly Local Gaming Store) in Windsor. They were previously located out in the county in McGreggor. Their new location has a huge gaming area that I'm really hoping we can fill. The store is a games workshop specialty store and also caries a great selection of board games, card games and more.

This is an open non-competitive gaming event that anyone is welcome to attend. Any form of game is welcome: board, card, rpg, miniatures, whatever you want to bring we are willing to have you. Based on the venue I would not be surprised to see some Warhammer Players out.

We aren't rule lawyers. You are welcome to bring your own games or share in some of ours. Everything we bring we are willing to teach and no experience is necessary. The goal is to get as many local gamers out as possible to enjoy great games with other local gamers.

Games we've played in the past include: Blood bowl, King of Tokyo, Warmachine, Settlers of Catan, Agricola, Magic The Gathering, Quarriors! and more.

An important note: we are not a private club. Anyone and everyone is welcome to come out and join in the games. If you see someone playing a game and it looks interesting, ask about it. If you see a game on a table and you want to try it out, ask around and see if someone will teach it.

Brimstone is located at 3298 Walker Rd in Windsor Ontario.
